Give and get
important information
when you go for
your pap smear

Be sure to ask your clinician about any symptoms you want checked.

Tell your clinician about past pap smear results if you know them.

Remember that the clinician will ask you several questions. These questions are important in the interpretation of your results:

  • your age
  • whether someone in your family has had cancer
  • your menstrual periods, including the dates
  • past or current infections or conditions
  • whether you have ever had intercourse
  • whether you smoke or are often with a person who smokes
  • whether you are pregnant
