Your can have a pap smear at an obstetrician- gynecologist's office, your local family physician's office, family planning clinic, or community health center.
It is important that you choose a clinician who takes care to do the test right. The current recommendations are that the cells from the cervix be collected with a brush, a spatula and scraper. If you are pregnant, a cotton swab is usually substituted for the brush. The clinician must write your name on the slide and provide additional identifying information.
