It is important that the laboratory be certified and follow certain standards. Since some insurance companies have certain guidelines for payment, you have a right to know about the laboratories that follow the insurance companies' recommendations. If the lab does testing for Medicare or Medicaid funded patients, chances are that it is accredited. Find out from your insurance companies about the laboratories, their certification and other requirements.
