APAnet Use Policy

Use of materials:

 1. Use for non-profit purposes

  • Use for non-profit purposes is actively encouraged. There are no restrictions on this type of use and may include the distribution or modification of the materials. We ask only for the appropriate credits and copyright recognition. Non-profit activities are those where no fee is charged for these materials (other than reproduction costs) and where no fee is charged to the user of these materials.
  • 2. Use for for-profit purposes

  • Use of these materials for for-profit purposes need to be approved by APAnet. Please contact Dennis Acebo, project director. For-profit activities are those where a fee is charged for these materials (beyond reproduction costs) or where a fee is charged to the user of these materials.
  • Individual staff network use:

     1. No Access without consent unless required by law or other duty

  • APAnet will not access or disclose private electronic messages or files of an employee without the consent of that employee, unless required to do so by law or a duty to a third party.
  • 2. Network facilities may not be used for illegal or wrongful purposes

  • Employees may not use APAnet email, World Wide Web facilities or electronic messaging systems to infringe the copyright or other intellectual property rights of third parties, to distribute defamatory, fraudulant or harrassing messages, or otherwise to engage in any illegal or wrongful conduct.
  • 3. Electronic Snooping prohibited

    • The unauthorized use of the network for purposes of "snooping" is a violation of APAnet policy.

    4. Network facilities may be used for personal purposes without restriction

  • It is permissible to use APAnet's network facilities for personal purposes.
  • 5. Signature files or message text must disclose limitations of employee's authority

  • Employees must use signature files, in messages sent to third parties, that make clear any limitations on the extent to which the messages from the employee may be understood to have been sent on behalf of the the employing organization.
  • 6. No Systematic Monitoring

  • APAnet will not engage in the systematic monitoring of electronic mail messages or network activity, the electronic records created by use of email systems, or other electronic files created by employees.
