Electronic mail gives you the ability to send and receive messages and computer files quickly and conveniently. Here, we will discuss how to use email to communicate electronicly with the world around you.

Netiquette, or network etiquette

Like any type of communication, there are some basic conventions or codes of conduct, often called "netiquette", or "network etiquette." Basic network etiquette involves a few simple concepts:

• remembering that whatever you say on e-mail can be repeated very easily
• knowing the difference between public use and private use of messages (and what constitutes a waste of time on either)
• appreciating the fact that what you write may not always be what you meant.
