Gentrification in LA's APA Enclaves
Friday, 27 October 2006
A 124-page report titled "Gentrification and Equitable Development in Los Angeles' Asian Pacific American Ethnic Enclaves" is available online.  The study was commissioned by the Little Tokyo Service Center on behalf of the Equitable Development Task Force of the Asian Pacific Policy and Planning Council (A3PCON).  The report seeks to establish a common understanding of gentrification in Asian Pacific American ethnic enclaves, and provides a quantitative and qualitative analysis of the impact of gentrification in Los Angeles' Chinatown, Historic Filipinotown, Koreatown, Little Tokyo, and Thai Town.  The report concludes with collective equitable development strategies that prevent displacement and encourges a community-based approach to development.

The report can be downloaded here .
